We always prefer artist created designs. Every artist has their own signature style, artistic approach, and experience, and creating custom designs is an essential part of their creative process. This is how you get unique tattoos, designed for the idea and the individual.
Lately, we’ve been seeing more and more clients bringing in AI-generated images, so it’s important to clarify a few things.
AI generates images, not tattoos. It does not take into account body anatomy, how skin ages, ink spreads over time or how a design will look years ahead. AI can create visually impressive images with extremely fine lines and excessive detail, but in reality, these elements cannot be tattooed in a way that will look just as good with time.
In practice, around 98% of the AI-generated designs our clients bring in require significant reworking. The composition is often adjusted, details simplified, or an entirely new design is created while keeping only the original concept. This isn’t because the artist doesn’t want to recreate the image – it’s because their responsibility is to create a high-quality tattoo that you’ll still be happy with 10 or 20 years from now.
If you use AI-generated images for inspiration, that’s completely understandable. However, please keep in mind that the final design may differ significantly from the original image.

If you prefer not to use AI in the design process, we fully support that and it’s actually the approach we prefer. The best results come when an artist creates a design from scratch, based on your idea, your anatomy, and their own experience. That’s how truly unique, high-quality tattoos are created – designed for a real person, not an algorithm.
